Membership of Outline Surrey
Thank you very much for showing interest in becoming a member of Outline. We are delighted to welcome new members, as members play a vital role in supporting our organisation and determine who sits on the Board of Management/Trustees. In this way we can maintain the democratic and progressive outlook which has sustained the services we offer throughout Surrey.
Membership is free and all members must be 18 or over. Members of Outline may if they wish donate or carry out sponsored activities in aid of Outline, however this is entirely a personal decision and not a condition of membership.
Outline Membership Application
Why does Outline have members?
Outline is a registered unincorporated charity. In order for us to ensure we have the right people running the charity, our governance document requires us to hold an AGM where the members vote for the trustees to look after Outline for the next year.
Members are also a very useful point of contact in the communities that we represent to share the work Outline is doing and be aware of events and information that Outline shares regularly. From time to time Outline will meet with members or invite them to events to hear their views and opinions which help us shape the services that Outline continues to offer in Surrey.
How do I become a member of Outline?
Complete the Online Application form and our Membership Secretary will add you to our Members Database.

What’s the difference between an Outline member and Outline Volunteer?
Members are separate to our core of volunteers – however a volunteer can become a member and a member can become a volunteer.
The purpose of membership is to be supportive of the causes of Outline.
Volunteers provide a time commitment to delivering services for Outline e.g. working on a shift of our helpline or running an Outcrowd event. Volunteers, trustees, committee members and Outline members are required to comply with Outline policies.
For the purposes of clarity, Outline is solely run and operated by volunteers. Volunteers and trustees are not automatically given membership. A volunteer may choose to become a member which would be able to vote at the AGM.
Types of Membership:
