Volunteer

To volunteer please fill out our form. Alternatively visit the Catalyst volunteering page for the full list of volunteering opportunities.

Do you have …
– an understanding of sexuality and gender identity
– an empathy with some of the experiences that having a diverse sexual or romantic orientation might bring
– an empathy towards gender identity that doesn’t align with gender at birth

How can I help?
We’re looking for volunteers who can offer a couple of hours every week or two to support our listening service. If you have time available to volunteer on a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday evening, we’d love to hear from you.

If you’d like to support Outline but are only available to volunteer during the day or at the weekend, please still get in touch. It’s always good to hear from anyone who’d like to help, so get in touch and talk about how else you might be able to get involved.

Where can I volunteer?
Volunteers for our listening service usually volunteer remotely, though there also opportunities to base yourself in our office in Woking.

Volunteers also support us with admin, events and fundraising at a number of locations in Surrey.

Why volunteer?
By volunteering for Outline you could be helping to improve the quality of life for people coming to terms with their sexual orientation or gender concerns, letting them know that they are not alone.

There are many benefits to volunteering including:

Meeting new people
Gaining a sense of purpose
Increasing your employability
Making you mentally and physically fitter
Teaching you empathy
Having fun

Volunteering with Outline will allow you to learn new skills and grow as you support others.

Do I receive any training?
You’ll receive in depth training to make sure you develop the skills you need to succeed as a volunteer. We run regular online training sessions for new volunteers where they learn about Outline’s history and ethos, what you will do as a volunteer and the processes to follow. You’ll also be given specific safeguarding training as well as a range of other online courses that are available to all volunteers.

Once you start volunteering, you’ll be working alongside more experienced volunteers with plenty of support available when you need it.
